The K-Pop Fundamentals Lab is a new 12-week K-Pop dance course from Zeekers Danz, a dance studio at 455 Cochrane Drive, Unit 22 (ground floor), Markham, Ontario, near Hwy 7 and Woodbine. It is made up of 12 lessons of 75 minutes, with classes for Juniors 9+ and Teens 13+. Monday classes start on November 9, 2026, and Thursday classes start on November 12, 2026.

More than covers. That is the idea behind the Lab: instead of learning one dance and moving on, students spend 12 weeks on the base that K-Pop routines are built on.

What is the K-Pop Fundamentals Lab?

The K-Pop Fundamentals Lab is a structured course focused on K-Pop dance fundamentals, called 기본기 in Korean, and on dance skills. It runs once a week for 12 weeks. Along the way, students work on 2 projects and film each one in its own filming session.

The course is offered at Zeekers Danz in Markham, with separate classes for Juniors 9+ and Teens 13+.

Who is the K-Pop Fundamentals Lab for?

The Lab has two age groups: Juniors 9+ and Teens 13+. Juniors 9+ can choose between a Monday class with Tiffany and a Thursday class with Anita and Jayce. Teens 13+ join the Thursday class with Tiffany. Each group meets once a week, for 75 minutes, over 12 weeks.

Why focus on fundamentals instead of covers?

Covers teach you a routine. Fundamentals teach you how to dance. A cover is one dance, learned move by move. Fundamentals, or 기본기, are the skills underneath it, the base students bring with them when they learn their next routine. The Lab gives 12 full weeks to that base and puts the work on camera through 2 projects, filmed in lessons 6 and 12.

What will my child learn?

Your child will learn K-Pop dance fundamentals (기본기) and skills over 12 lessons of 75 minutes each. The focus is on how to dance, not just on memorizing a single routine.

The 12 lessons build toward 2 projects. Students film the first project in lesson 6 and the second project in lesson 12.

What happens at the filming sessions?

There are 2 filming sessions, one in lesson 6 and one in lesson 12. Each session is where students film one of their 2 projects.

Before the final filming, students get one professional Korean makeup experience. It is done by Cheryl, a professional makeup artist working in the Asian entertainment industry.

Her career includes performing in more than 300 concerts with artists such as Aaron Kwok, Jacky Cheung, Joey Yung, F4 and more. She is a graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Musical Theatre, and she founded Zeekers Danz Production in 2009.

Carol designed the course; she is not the class instructor. Classes are taught by Tiffany, Anita and Jayce, as listed in the schedule above. The artists named here are part of Carol's career history and do not endorse the course.
